RPC Full Form In Law
What Is The Full Form Of RPC In Law?
RPC full form in law is Ranbir Penal Code. This was the main set of criminal laws used in the old state of Jammu and Kashmir and was found to be different from the Indian Penal Code that was applicable in the rest of India. Starting in the year 1932, when the head was Maharaja Ranbir Singh, and since then it has been named after him. RPC was modeled on the Indian Penal Code, formulated by Thomas Babington Macaulay. It stayed as the main criminal law in Jammu and Kashmir until it was removed on August 5, 2019, when Article 370 of the Indian Constitution was canceled.
Legal Implications and Usage:
RPC was laying down rules for all criminal cases being tried in Jammu and Kashmir. RPC was the very foundation of the idea of how justice, crime, and punishment were being dealt with in the legal system in this area. The Code had different crimes listed, and the punishment included, as in other penal codes, but changed to suit local needs and legal standards of the state. This brought in a huge change in the legal rules, wherein the implementation of RPC was omitted, and the Indian Penal Code was implemented in the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
