Rajeev Chandrasekhar Sends Defamation Notice to Shashi Tharoor Over Bribery Allegations
A big news story is unfolding as Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram, steps into a legal battle with Congress leader Shashi Tharoor. It all dates back to some serious allegations that Tharoor had made, with Chandrasekhar saying that the charges are categorically false and defamatory.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for Information Technology and Electronics, has got such a big job to do, and he is very upset to come on television to know Shashi Tharoor said that he gave money to the voters and won them over to gain their support. Tharoor further mentioned that Chandrasekhar was paying off money to important local leaders, including parish priests in Thiruvananthapuram, in order to get votes.
Because of these accusations, Chandrasekhar has taken a legal step. He has sent Tharoor a formal legal letter and has accused Tharoor of defamation.
This letter, thus, asks Tharoor to withdraw all his words and make a public apology, and nothing of that sort to be spoken ever in the future. The letter reflects that the words spoken by Tharoor were quite poorly reflecting on Chandrasekhar and tries to mess up the voting process with his baseless allegations. The letter says that Tharoor’s words have broken the Model Code of Conduct rules in the election for fair conduct because of the magnitude of the accusations before the big 2024 Lok Sabha election. It also says that Tharoor was wrong to bring in the Christian leaders of Thiruvananthapuram and say that they were part of this money-for-vote problem.
Everyone’s watching to see what happens next. If it turns out that Tharoor was wrong, it would really dent his reputation and his standing in politics. But Chandrasekhar wanting Tharoor to say sorry and take back his words puts Tharoor in a difficult position. He has to either stick to his story or say sorry because of the legal challenge.
This whole situation shows how tense and serious politics can get, especially when elections are near. Will Tharoor say sorry, or will he show proof for his accusations? Well, everyone must stay tuned with this story because defamation is no joke, and on top of that, if the allegations made by Throor have any weight to them, then Rajeev Chandrasekhar will have a lot to explain. What follows can change quite a lot for both of them and the political scene in Thiruvananthapuram.
